Libro espiral
2008
Handmade cotton paper, silk thread.
17 x 13.5 x 8 cm.
The origin of this project lies in the link between the mathematical concept of a matrix, as a set of elements arranged in rows and columns, and the concept of matrix as a basis for obtaining or repeating elements.
This book-object is based on Fibonacci’s numerical series, which can be represented through the mathematical structure of a matrix and which in turn is present as a matrix in the repetition or generation of so many natural elements (the arrangement of the seeds of a sunflower, the petals of a flower, the nautilus, etc.)
The number of booklets (34) that make up the book-object coincides with a number in the Fibonacci numerical series; the book-object in turn designs a spiral that is the geometric representation of the same series.
The “book” itself can be considered as the natural matrix that generates and preserves all the essence of the human. Sheets, words, footprints, feelings, all of them ordered as a sequence.
